hurt in an accident?

Speeding

Speeding is one of the most common contributing factors among all accidents in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that the economic cost to society of speeding-related crashes is about $40 billion per year.

Speeding is a contributing factor in more than 30% of all fatal accidents, many of which are South Carolina auto accidents.  Over 13,000 lives are lost every year in speeding-related car accidents.

If you were injured in an accident in which speeding played a role, or someone you love was killed in a speeding-related auto accident, it is important for you to seek legal help.

The South Carolina lawyers at Harris & Graves use every method possible to prove negligence on the part of a speeding driver so that our clients can receive the highest monetary reward owed them.

According to South Carolina law, motorists are required to operate vehicles at a speed that is reasonable or prudent.  Any speed which exceeds the following limits is evidence of unreasonable driving:

  • 70 MPH on the interstate and other freeways where official signs notifying motorists of this speed are posted.
  • 30 MPH in business or residential districts.
  • 55 MPH in other locations unless the department of highway traffic dictates otherwise.
