A 58 year old Columbia man has died from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car on Broad River Road near Interstate-20. An eye witness claims the victim may have even been hit by a second car. This tragic incident—still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol—serves as a reminder for a problem that has spiked dangerously these past few years for South Carolina residents: pedestrian accidents. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, there was a collision between a school bus and a pick-up truck on Wednesday morning near Simpsonville. The accident occurred at 8:20 a.m. on Georgia Road near Greenville Technical College’s Brashier campus. The bus was transporting 51 Woodmont Middle School students when it was hit head-on by a pick-up driven by Michelle Kaufman, 42, of Simpsonville. A tragic early morning semi-truck accident in Greenville County took the life of a young man on Wednesday. The wreck occurred at the intersection of Hammet Bridge and South Buncombe Roads in Greer just after 3 a.m., investigators said. Greenville County’s deputy coroner stated that the 20-year-old man, who was driving a Lexus SUV, died instantly upon collision with the 18-wheeler.
