March One of Warmest on Record in South Carolina

According to the Weather Channel, March 2012 was the hottest March on record in about 80 cities around the US, mostly in the South and central parts of the country. Flipped 18-Wheeler Closes I-26 Ramp

February 24 saw the closing of the exit ramp onto I-26 from South I-85 after a tractor-trailer accident. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a semi-truck rolled early Friday morning around 7:15 a.m. spilling its contents across the highway. Multiple Car Accidents on I-85 Leave Several Injured, One Dead in Greenville

Last Wednesday marked a fatal day on the I-85 corridor in Greenville County. In the early hours of February 1, the first of two wrecks left a pedestrian dead. Around 6:40 a.m., David Lee Evans, 48, from Laurens, was struck and killed on the southbound side of I-85. According to Greenville Highway Patrol, Fletcher Thao, 53, from Wellford, struck Evans with his Toyota SUV. Greenville County Coroner Barry Wright said that Evans was walking along the side of the interstate with his back to traffic when he was hit. South Carolina Pedestrian Deaths Increased Dramatically in 2011

Pedestrian deaths in South Carolina have risen sharply since 2009, with five already reported in Columbia and 10 in Lexington County. Highway Patrol Captain Brad Hughes, who is commander of Troop One covering the Midlands area to include Richland, Lexington, and Kershaw counties, commented that these statistics reflect a significant increase of six more than last year.
